At the beginning of 2021 Alex returned from 11 years in London where he most recently led the Mondelez account at Publicis Groupe agency Digitas, helping to deliver award winning campaigns including the Oreo Playful Network. He's had experience across a number of sectors including Entertainment, TELCO, Finance, Drinks, FMCG and Public Sector.
After a long stint in the London lockdown, Alex took a year out to reevaluate and to study, before being enticed back into agency life by Stanley St and the agency's enthusiasm to incorporate Māori culture into the agency, and the work.
Alex is a graduate of Rumaki Reo at Te Wānanga Takiura and Te Aupikitanga ki te Reo Kairangi at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. Since joining Stanley St he's combined forces with Kaiwhakatere Darryl Roycroft, to build out Stanley St's Māori capability and offering.
Alex says “I have a renewed passion for our industry. I've been lucky over the years to learn from amazing strategists, creatives, and also experts in mātauranga Māori. Bringing that together is exciting, and comes with a strong sense of purpose. I see an opportunity for our industry to be a greater force in the normalisation of te reo, and also to draw on te ao Māori to create solutions that work for Māori, but also for everyone.”
Siobhan Burke, CEO of Stanley St says “This appointment is a critical one for the Agency. It's rare to find senior people in our industry with knowledge of te reo and te ao Māori. He's a creative and strategic thinker and we're excited about the opportunities both he and Darryl will unlock for our Client partners as we continue to integrate their methodology into our ways of working”.
