At Stanley St, we’ve developed and launched a campaign that gave a voice and recognised the significant commitment made, and losses incurred, by local businesses throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
While New Zealand has undertaken a world class effort to control the spread of the virus and an extraordinary job of keeping each other safe, it’s a burden that continues to be carried more fully by New Zealand businesses the length and breadth of Aotearoa.
The ‘Support Local Shop Local’ campaign uniquely features struggling businesses shouting out their support for other small business in their area and encourages all New Zealanders to get behind local business. These are the businesses that make our towns special and unique, hard-working people who often collaborate with other local businesses. The owners often know us by name; they are our neighbours and in many cases our friends. So this campaign was designed so New Zealand could say a huge thank you for keeping us safe by paying that back and buying local.
As part of the campaign we provided local business owners with a helpful, free digital tool kit, giving local businesses the ability to promote themselves. The toolkits included posters, stickers, social and digital assets that promoted the ‘Shop Local’ message and highlighted the business’ real need for community support.
The initiative has received fantastic support by media companies in New Zealand including Mediaworks, NZME, Stuff and TVNZ and it speaks volumes about the positive impact collaboration, and thinking local, can achieve.
